Your recordings never leave your phone

What the app records

When you tap the record button, Accentric captures about two seconds of audio in order to measure the resonant frequencies of the vowel you just said.

That audio is held in memory, analysed, and released. It is never written to disk, never played back, and never transmitted. What survives the measurement is a handful of numbers — frequencies in hertz, and a score derived from them.

This is not a policy choice that could quietly change: the measurement runs on the phone because that is where the signal processing lives, and there is no code in the app that can send audio anywhere.

What an account holds

If you create an account, these are stored on our servers and synchronised to the devices you sign in on:

• Your email address, or the private relay address Apple gives us if you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide yours
• Your seven calibration vowels, as frequency values — the numbers, not the audio
• Unit progress, best scores, crowns, experience points and your streak
• Which course you are working

The calibration numbers are the reason an account is worth having. Every target in the app is expressed relative to your own vowels, so without them a new phone cannot score you at all — and with somebody else's, it would score you wrongly.

Your settings, review queue and hearts stay on the device and are not uploaded.

Using the app without an account

You can calibrate and work the free units without signing in, and nothing is sent anywhere while you do. Progress then lives on that phone alone — which also means deleting the app deletes it, with no copy anywhere to restore from. Signing in is what carries it somewhere safe.

Who else is involved

• Supabase hosts the database and handles sign-in. They process the account data listed above on our behalf.
• Apple handles Sign in with Apple and all payments. We never see your card details, and we receive no more than the email address you allow.

There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising identifier, and nothing that tracks you across other apps or websites.

Spoken examples are audio files included in the app, generated before release. Your voice is not involved in producing them and nothing is sent anywhere to play them.

Subscriptions

Accentric Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment and tells the app whether a subscription is active; we never receive a card number. Managing or cancelling a subscription is done in your Apple Account settings.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account and everything in it from Settings, or by emailing hello@accentric.app. Deletion removes the account record and the stored calibration and progress. It cannot reach a subscription Apple holds — cancel that in your Apple Account settings.

Permissions

Microphone. Required, and the only permission the app asks for. It is used solely to measure the words you choose to record. If you decline, the app tells you plainly that it cannot measure anything and offers to open Settings; nothing else about it changes.

Children

Accentric is not directed at children under 13, and accounts are not intended for them. If you believe a child has created one, email us and we will remove it.

Changes

The date at the top is the last time this page changed. If a future version ever sends something this page does not describe — audio above all — this page will say so before that version ships.
